As I am aging, my skin is too, who would have thought it???!!!, the lines, the sags, the bags – eek. I was never someone who spent a fortune on cleansers, toners, moisturisers, fillers, derma this, derma that, as with a face like mine, it didn’t really matter what I put on on it, it was never going to improve my looks, so I tended to spend my money on every type of make – up you could buy, to try and cover the ugly mug up (dont even get me started on the collection of lipsticks I have, it is obscene – do they even go out of date?????????????). Who knows…..
A couple of years ago I bought a box of Liz EARLE goodies (ON OFFER ,OBVS), imagine my surprise when I found something I actually really liked and noticed a difference in my skin, within days. It was of course Cleanse and Polish hot cloth cleanser. I have continued to use this, however, on one outing to the Liz Earle counter at my local Boots, they had actually ran out and were waiting on a delivery. Well, I am not one to hang about, when I want something, I want it yesterday (which, when you think about it is actually a silly saying, as yesterday you might not have known you were even going to want it today), anyway, I digress….. I walked along to Superdrug to see if they had anything that would do me in the meantime and I came across their own brand of Cleanse and Polish hot cloth cleanser (also in a green box). I thought, I’ll give it a go (as at the time of purchasing it was only £4.99). I didn’t really hold out much hope, however, in all honesty, I found it just as good, same size bottle and comes with the same muslin cloth.
Now don’t get me wrong if you were going to gift me a Cleanse and Polish hot cloth cleanser, I would obviously be expecting the Liz Earle cleanser and not some cheapskate own brand one but, if I am buying it myself, am I going to spend £32.50 rrp (it is on offer in their spring sale at £24.70 presently) or Superdrug’s own brand at £8.99 (hefty mark up since when I first purchased, however they have a buy 1 get 1 free at the moment)? I think we know the answer to that one.
I know, I am just the gift that keeps on giving……………………..
