Hello my lovelies. I hope this day finds you well after our ‘long’ (not long enough) weekend, not too long until the next one (thanks Charlie).
As Bank Holiday Monday, in sunny Glasgow, wasn’t too sunny or warm, I decided to venture out and do a bit of ‘window’ shopping, hey, it’s expected of me. I didn’t want to travel too far so headed to my nearest shopping centre or if you want to go all American, ‘mall’ . I wasn’t expecting much but I thought I might see something……………………… OMG, seriously, is that it?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can honestly say in all my years of shopping, and that’s a lot, I have never been so disappointed in what I saw.
Now, I get that Spring can be a difficult season, not quite sunny or warm enough to loosen the shackles of our winter clothing but for goodness sake, what about a bit of colour!!!??? When you go to Europe, all you see in their shops, is colour, here all you see is………………………… ‘blah’!!
River Island – cream, cream and more cream. Being a Summer palette, I don’t do CREAM – how many times do I need to tell these people???
H & M – do not even get me started on them, in the name of FASHION, please steam your clothes, nobody wants to try on or buy something full of creases. I couldn’t even tell you what they had, I just know it was all ‘blah’ coloured.
New Look – I am not a huge fan anyway, nothing ever seems to be in any order, not colour co-ordinated and just racks of mismatched stuff a lot of the time, big empty shell of a shop with nothing inspiring for me- sorry if you are a fan.
Hollister – I don’t even go in, BORING!
Superdry – DITTO.
Flannels – not really somewhere you would window shop, got a lot of designer brands I like, however I wouldn’t be just wandering about a local shopping centre and randomly decide to spend £200 on a t-shirt. (I reckon this shop will be closed in this particular shopping centre by the end of the year, it just doesn’t have the traffic to make any profit).
The only shop I saw anything I like, and I am not even joking, was M & S, they do have some really great jeans in, from wide leg to slim ankle grazers, and their jeans always fit me, which is obviously a huge brownie point to them (though not a chocolate brownie, obs), however I do not need jeans, I have many pairs, they just don’t fit right now. I digress..
So, feeling a tad disgruntled and not wanting to head home without, at the least, seeing something interesting, to help fuel my passion for fashion, I decided to head along to LOVE IT boutique, an independent boutique in the Southside of Glasgow.
Now I have been here many times and have always came away with something, just a little bit special and yesterday did not disappoint.
Before I show you some of the goodies, let me first paint a picture…..imagine a big, welcoming window, with just enough treasures, tastefully set out, to beckon you in. You walk in, it’s all clean contours and bright , very bright, tastefully decorated, you are greeted by friendly staff, the clothes are on racks, colour coordinated, everything is set out in such a way that it is easy to take off the rack or shelf and look at….. you can stop imagining now, this is real, this is a shop that is catering to our needs, it values it’s customers, (unlike these chains that are all owned by the same company and just churn out the same over priced dross time after time and with basic sizing), that is why an independent boutique like LOVE IT , who cater for all of us (they do LYC – Love Your Curves) deserves our custom, they actually get what the customer wants and cater for us.
This is just a snapshot of what’s on offer right now… and look, colour, yes, who would have believed it – it does actually exist.
Did I just ‘window’ shop, albeit it is a very nice window? Of course I didn’t, I needed to buy something to cheer myself up after my traumatic shopping experience earlier in the day.
So, if like me, you are bored with the same old, same old, faceless shops, why don’t you pop into LOVE IT and have a look. If you can’t manage to get along, you can shop on their Website or Facebook page.
