top tips for autumn 2023

As you may have guessed, number 2 is TARTAN.
It made an appearance on the catwalk some years back, courtesy of the late, great, Dame Vivienne Westwood, she may have been a tad ‘way out’ for some people, but she certainly got herself and her designs noticed.
My favourite designer, Alexander McQueen, also brought it to the catwalk, in his personal life, he was heavily influenced by his Scottish ancestors, constantly trying to find out more about his heritage, he did however, cause quite an uproar with his 1995 HIGHLAND RAPE show, but hey, that’s what fashion is all about., you have to get yourself noticed, even bad publicity is good publicity.
Present day, we have young Mr Charles Jeffrey AKA LOVERBOY bringing it back into the forefront, with his gender friendly pieces,( I myself own one of his suits) he really is at the forefront of the British fashion world right now.
If you don’t believe me about the appeal of tartan, why not visit the V & A in Dundee, it has a TARTAN exhibition on as we speak. I know, I know, I am a wealth of information!!!

I am not going to show you what’s on offer in our retail outlets for this one, I know TARTAN is somewhat ‘niche’, you either like or you don’t, however this is really on trend this Autumn.
